Happy New Year to all you SJC Democrats!


Our first meeting of 2021 will be this Saturday, Jan. 9, at 11:30.  While I hope all of you attend, it is especially crucial that if you are one our PCOs, your attendance is needed for a quorum to elect our new officers, and you are the only ones who can vote for these positions. There is still time for others to enter the race for any position, so let me know if you are interested.  I hope you will also look at doebay.net/bigpicture.pdf  to gain a little background information on the topic of our future livability in the county and the failure of county government to study our carrying capacity, the subject which our featured speaker Joe Symons will present to us. The Zoom link is:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82717169584

I have given Joe an hour for his presentation and Q & A, so we don’t want to add too much to our agenda, but if there is something of timely importance, please let me know.

    I was unable to attend the Zoom conference today, and hope there will be a link allowing one to go back and listen to it… thank you. Also, whoever takes and presents your minutes does an outstanding job.

    In regards to the “mask or not to mask” crowd, making a deal with our soon-to-be-ex Pres. Trump (even if to save lives) is a part of the problem that controls our politics today. Such a benevolent gesture should be done cautiously. The strategy is, in some ways, no different than what Trump “the deal-maker” has been doing himself every since he came to office. And, when such an under-the-table, though altruistic effort is found out by the public, (and I say “when,” not “if”), the Republicans, or the Trump supporters could easily turn this around, and though the effort might prove to dimiish the spread of the virus I fear that it could also further the notion that the Democrats are corrupt… that it could backfire, and further enable their cause.

    I like the idea of using local people, local health professionals especially, and also using commercials like the old cigarette commercials in order to get the word out. I especially thought the one that went, “For when you can’t catch your next breath… nothing else matters,” was very powerful.
